Mary Zimmerman is SAGE Eldercare's

Volunteer of the Month for July, 2010

Mary Zimmerman, a twenty-five year resident of Summit, has committed her life to volunteer-ism while staying home as a full-time mom raising two sons.  Besides delivering meals once or twice a week for SAGE, Mary also donates her time to Summit's "Loaves and Fishes" Food Pantry at St. Teresa's of Avila Church.  On Wednesdays Mary helps bag food and gives out pre-filled sacks of grocery staples to local families in need.  She often stops by SAGE before going to the pantry to pick up food donations for "Loaves and Fishes".  She has, in fact, become a liaison between SAGE Eldercare and "Loaves and Fishes"  by bringing food more suited to families rather than the elderly from SAGE to St. Theresa's.  Mary says, "It's just the kind of hands-on and personal volunteering that I enjoy most, and I get great joy from delivering food with a smile."
